I totally agree and applaud your announcement! It's a disgusting addiction that goes a step further than alcohol as it pollutes the environment. Telling that to myself many years ago helped me to stop. Later I worked as a case manager for a Sr. assistance social-aid program and went into the homes of people who were home-bound due to infirmity. I saw a lot of unpleasant things, one of which were people hooked up to oxygen machines and not being able to go anywhere without it following along behind them. Nothing to take lightly.

Many people who are in recovery from other drugs or behaviours continue to smoke cigarettes or cigars. Sooner or later, if you are in a 12 Step program, practicing Step 6 and 7 and 12, you need to address your nicotine addiction. When it seems impossible to quit, it is time to surrender. Underlying the physical addiction, which can be successfully treated with nicotine patches, is a rebelliousness which will eventually prove fatal. If you have tried many times to quit, and find yourself with a cigarette between your fingers again - get the emotional help you really need. Canine Therapy in Addiction Recovery

Canine Therapy is nothing new. Humans and their dogs have been loving and nurturing each other since the first abandoned wolf puppy was adopted by our ancient foreparents. Our relationship with each other has evolved collectively as two species, and as intimately as Travis and Old Yeller. The only thing new about Canine Therapy is calling it Canine Therapy.
